Can you use Echo Dot as a wired speakerphone with your phone?

All Echo devices are equipped with AUX ports for connecting external speakers. However, Echo Dot, Spot, Show and Auto do not have auxiliary inputs. Only the Echo 3rd Generation, Echo Plus and Echo Studio have auxiliary inputs.

This means that while you can connect it to external speakers, you can’t use your phone to play audio through an AUX cable on your Echo Dot or other incompatible Echo devices. I tried doing this with my Echo Dot, and it didn’t work for obvious reasons.

Can Alexa work without power?

Amazon Echo devices must be plugged into a wall outlet at all times. Without power, the Alexa device will not turn on or work. However, you have a few options for using Alexa devices without power.

Amazon sells a portable version called Echo Input which comes with a built-in 4800mAh battery for listening to music. But if you already have an Echo or Echo Dot, you can use portable third-party battery bases available on Amazon to run the Echo on battery power.

Again, you would need WiFi to use Alexa (unless you want to use it purely as a Bluetooth speaker). In this case, you can connect it to your phone’s Wi-Fi hotspot. If power outages are the cause, you can get a mini inverter for your WiFi router. The links are given below.
