Dr Rakesh Shah, Ophthalmologist at Swaraashi Netralya, Thane, demonstrates two state-of-the-art ophthalmic devices: the ‘3nethra neo HD FA’ and the ‘Mirante SLO/OCT’ today in Thane

MUMBAI/ Thane AUGUST 1, 2022 (GPN): The alarming rate of eye disease in India is due to the lack of a sufficient subset of screening programs. Abnormal eye problems like cataracts, glaucoma, refractive errors, and macular degenerative conditions can lead to total blindness. By screening for eye health problems, doctors can detect potential diseases and diagnose them at an earlier stage.

Dr Rakesh Shah, Ophthalmologist at Swaraashi Netralya, Thane, introduced two state-of-the-art ophthalmic devices: the “3nethra neo HD FA” and the “Mirante SLO/OCT. Both devices help detect all ophthalmic medical conditions in children and adults in areas where medical help is furthest away. The devices allow high resolution imaging. It is also light, compact and can be used by technicians with little training.

The 3nethra neo HD FA device is the first of its kind in Maharashtra. It is a compact, portable and easy-to-use mydriatic ultra-widefield digital imaging system with fluorescein angiography (FA) for the diagnosis and photographic documentation of eye disease in neonates and children. especially for retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), retinoblastoma and other diseases.

The Mirante SLO/OCT is a scanning laser ophthalmoscope used to capture high quality color images, fluorescein angiography (FA), indocyanine green (ICG) angiography, fundus autofluorescence eye (FAF), single images in retro mode, OCT analysis and OCT angiography. A new device called Mirante has been launched in Thane/Mumbai which helps screen for diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration and other retinal disorders. It is a valuable tool to help prevent blindness and other vision problems in adults.

In order to detect and diagnose the most potentially harmful eye diseases more quickly and affordably, Dr. Rakesh Shah, Ophthalmologist at Swaraashi Netralaya, said: “Forus neo can easily be installed in private clinics, hospitals , mobile testing camps and communities. settings. Common eye diseases in children can be diagnosed using the latest technology. Eye surgeons are able to diagnose problems with the retina, cornea, and other parts of a patient’s eye. This technology enables more accurate diagnoses and treatments for patients.

Discussing the root causes and prevalence of childhood blindness in India, Dr Rakesh Shah said, “We run a number of school eye screening programs but no follow-up is done and affected children are not are more referred to an ophthalmologist. and therefore no intervention is made. Swaraashi Netralaya is committed to providing quality eye care to everyone, regardless of economic status. With the introduction of 3nethra neo HD, we are enabling more children to have access to quality eye care. I urge the government to encourage mandatory eye screening for children born prematurely and weighing less than 2 kg.-End
