Spotify last week announced updates to Car Thing, its proprietary in-car listening device that’s currently only available in the United States.
The streaming company’s first step into hardware began with testing in 2019, before moving into pilot mode last year. The device then became properly available to Spotify’s US premium subscribers in February.
“Car Thing makes it easy to play what you want, with the product’s intuitive interface and easy to use ‘Hey Spotify’ to control what you want to listen to,” the streaming company recalled during the announcement. announcement of updates last week. “But there’s always room for one more thing to improve, which is why Car Thing has new updates this week.”
Among the new features, Car Thing users can now “seamlessly answer phone calls”, “control other media”, “queue additional songs and podcasts”, and “use voice to get a personalized playlist for any mood”.
