Data concentrator sets monitor enterprise-wide data for improved situational awareness, security, and efficiency
The addition of the Data Concentrator allows our customers to integrate sensor data into their existing BAS/BMS platform with a simple and cost effective solution for BacNet or Modbus wireless integration. — Joe Mundell, Chief Revenue Officer, SonicuGREENFIELD, INDIANA, USA, June 13, 2022 /EINPresswire.com/ — Hot on the heels of the launch of the SoniShield View display, Sonicu is introducing an add-on device designed to further improve visibility and security in corporate health systems.
The Data Concentrator is a powerful out-of-the-box integration device that provides a constant flow of data from various monitoring points to a facility’s building automation (management) system.
It’s designed to be easy to install, simple to scale in an enterprise without IT support, and features powerful redundancies like other Sonicu devices to ensure connectivity during outages.
“Sonicu customers have always had the ability to leverage our cloud-based monitoring platform for self-contained continuous monitoring and reporting. Adding the Data Concentrator to our platform provides our customers who want to integrate sensor data into their existing BAS/BMS platform a simple and cost-effective solution for BacNet or Modbus wireless integration.
This eliminates the complexity associated with “wiring” the sensors to the BMS/BAS. This “wireless BacNet integration” is an industry-leading innovation.
“Together, these devices and the SoniCloud platform enable new construction or existing facilities to easily and affordably integrate monitoring of air pressure differential, ambient temperature, and humidity without the need to run cables in your facility and funnel all that data into a building management system center where professionals can quickly respond to excursions,” said Jason Young, chief technology officer, Sonicu.
Sonicu Chief Revenue Officer echoed that sentiment.
“Sonicu customers have always had the ability to leverage our cloud-based monitoring platform for self-contained continuous monitoring and reporting,” said Joe Mundell.
“Adding the Data Concentrator to our platform gives our customers who want to integrate sensor data into their existing BAS/BMS platform a simple and cost-effective solution for BacNet or Modbus wireless integration. This eliminates the complexity associated with “wiring” the sensors to the BMS/BAS. This “wireless BacNet integration” is a game-changer for our customers. »
When combined with Sonicu’s reliable suite of wireless remote probes, sensors and meters, the Data Concentrator provides trending and diagnostic capabilities that can be operated alongside existing BAS/BMS.
“We continue to innovate at Sonicu with one simple goal: to create the safest, most efficient facility for our diverse customer base,” said Jason Young, Chief Technology Officer, Sonicu.
“The Data Concentrator does what its name implies, concentrating dense data from a complex enterprise and making every data point simple to see and act on in the event of an issue that could impact security or efficiency.
For example, sensor data from different locations can be simply integrated into a single BAS/BMS without the need for complex wiring or networking. »
The data hub runs on AWS IoT Greengrass, a secure embedded operating system purpose-built for IoT devices. The device has Ethernet and cellular connectivity to ensure that Sonicu data can be easily transmitted from SoniCloud to the data hub.
The Data Concentrator solution requires two steps:
In coordination with Sonicu, establishes a profile that includes watchpoints that need to be mirrored on the data hub.
This includes configuring ‘slot mapping’, which tells the customer which monitoring point in SoniCloud should be replicated to which ‘slot’ in the Modbus/BACnet memory map.
The customer programs his BAS/BMS to connect to the data concentrator via Modbus/TCP or BACnet IP, which are the two most common communication protocols depending on his preference.
Facility managers can query the data hub for data, translate the information into the desired format for their system, and load the content into their BAS/BMS.
The data concentrator replicates the serial numbers of the points, the time the most recent reading occurred, and the value of the most recent reading.
If customers require additional information to be available in the Data Concentrator, they should contact Sonicu to collaborate on further development needs.
“Our history at Sonicu is one of listening carefully to our customers and innovating to meet their requirements, and we expect this trend to continue as facility managers take advantage of the powerful wireless scalability capabilities of the SoniShield Sight and from the data hub,” Young said.
“If you want to monitor and have your facility management focused on getting that data into their BAS, you can easily do that with the Data Concentrator. This way, your people outside the facilities can use SoniCloud and benefit from the reporting/alarming capabilities while the facilities can see the data in their “natural” system.
