Jamf Meets Healthcare IT Device Management Requirements

Apple enterprise management specialist Jamf has introduced new features to make it easier to use Apple devices in healthcare environments.

A new Healthcare Listener workflow called App Refresh speeds up getting devices ready for the next patient. It uninstalls and reinstalls managed apps and internal books from bedside devices, without requiring a full device reset.

IT administrators benefit from a shorter workflow, with the device remaining under online management throughout the process.

Healthcare Listener retains the ability to perform automatic device cleaning where preferred.

An update to Jamf Pro allows parents and guardians to use the Jamf Parent app to gain temporary wireless remote management capabilities of a patient’s hospital-issued device.

The parent’s personal device can be paired with the hospital-managed iPad via a QR code in the Jamf Parent app. Parents can then limit patient apps, device functionality, and reset the device passcode.

The Jamf Parent connection is automatically terminated when the device is erased remotely from Healthcare Listener or Jamf Reset.

Jamf suggests this capability is ideal for scenarios including pediatric care and behavioral health.

Single sign-on with Jamf Setup and Jamf Reset is a preview workflow (available to all Jamf Pro customers) to simplify the use of shared iOS and iPadOS devices.

Supported by the latest versions of the Jamf Setup and Jamf Reset applications, the workflow includes:

• Network authentication based on Cloud Identity Provider (IdP) with Microsoft Azure
• Role-based provisioning and access control
• Improved device passcode management
• Cross-app single sign-on (SSO) for iOS/iPadOS app support
• A logout with soft reset workflow that does not require a device wipe

“The past few years have shown that mobile transformation is changing the healthcare landscape. Jamf delivers the best digital experience for hospital providers, patients, and families through the power of Apple,” said Kari Chase, director of healthcare product strategy at Jamf.

“With the rollout of these new updates, healthcare providers can transform the bedside experience and ensure confidential patient data is secure, devices are properly managed, and endpoints are safe. protected.”
